Re:Consolations
When poet David Whyte asked me to compose music to accompany the audiobook version of his best-selling book “Consolations”, I knew it had to be personal and evocative, and yet still conversational. I set out to create a score, of sorts, for the insights and imagery that resonate throughout the essays.
The majority of the compositions on Re:Consolations (a revisiting of themes in musical form) are improvised musical conversations with myself, using my collection of instruments spanning the history of the guitar and related instruments. The instruments featured include lutes, baroque guitar, Uzbek rabab, resonator guitars and ukeleles, and more. I hope you enjoy the journey.
